The Johnstons

A couple weeks ago we went on the famous Freedom Trail.... What a treat. This is about a 2 mile walk around downtown Boston that takes you by all of the key historic sites of Boston. If you are ever in Boston, you have to do the Freedom Trail.



This is the State capital.
Here is a memorial for the Massachusetts 54th infantry, the regiment the movie Glory was based on.

This is the building where they read the Declaration of Independence for the first time ever! On every fourth of July they reread the Declaration off the balcony...We are totally going to that on Wednesday!

Check out the pulpit in this church. Also, check out the boxes the congregation sat in. They had a box specifically for George Washington himself.

The USS Constitution, the old iron side. The oldest ship in the naval fleet.
The Old North Church is where Paul Revere hung the lanterns to warn them that the British were coming. "One if by land, two if by sea". Ryan is conveniently pointing to the position of the lanterns that are lit to this day.

This is the famous Bunker Hill. This monument is a 294 step walk to the top.....and we made it.

Last weekend we went to Salem, where the witch trails took place. We forgot our camera, but thanks to the internet you can see the creepy Salem Witch Museum that we went to. Salem is a cute town, and a must see. That night we rented The Crucible, because Ryan had never seen it, and he has a huge crush on Winona Ryder. It is crazy that these events actually took place.


A weekend trip to the Cape~

Ryan treated me to a day at the beach! It was a beautiful perfect day for laying out on the sand and strolling down the town of Hyannis. Hyannis is also the hometown of the Kennedy's. I love the beach there. You are surrounded by beautiful old money cape homes. The entire Cape is just beautiful.

Ryan decided to keep himself busy by digging a hole in the sand. He then put his leg in the hole....and ended up burning his other leg.
